Sophie Stylianou, senior Legal and Tax Consultant, is the 2013 TTN International Taxation Prize winner. This is an annual tax competition of the Transnational Tax Network (TTN), which is open to individuals under the age of 35.  Sophie was selected as one of the two finalists and presented her thesis in front of a panel at the TTN meeting in Rome on 20 September 2013.Competitors were requested to write a thesis on the following subject: ‘Do recent tax treaties give too much attention to limitation on benefits and anti-abuse rules and too little to the avoidance of double taxation?
“I worked very hard for this competition and I thoroughly enjoyed the process. This is a very topical, relevant and interesting subject for any international tax practitioner.  Congratulations to all participants and a big thank you to TTN for this great honour”, a jubilant Sophie stated after the award ceremony.
